As medical professionals, we see patients who come in with pain and injuries where the origin is unknown. This happens more commonly than people realize, and when a patient is unsure about the discomfort they are feeling, many tend to leave it alone in hopes it will get better.
However, this can actually lead to a worsening condition, making the treatment process much lengthier and more difficult. With our diagnostic testing services, a patient with pain or discomfort they are unsure about can come in and receive a diagnosis for what they are feeling – so they can be treated accordingly.
Not only that, but diagnostic testing can also help determine problem areas before a condition gets worse – and, in some cases, before it even begins. If you are experiencing uncomfortable symptoms, don’t hesitate to contact Courcier Clinic Physical Therapy today. We’ll diagnose your condition, so you can receive the treatment you need and get back to living your life comfortably.
What does diagnostic testing do?
Diagnostic tests are important tools in figuring out the capabilities of one’s body and determining the cause of painful areas. Our specialists use these diagnostic tools to get to the root of the problem and create the best possible treatment plan for each patient. Some common examples of diagnostic tests include:
- Nerve Conduction Testing. A Nerve Conduction Test is used as a way to diagnose any damage or dysfunction in the nerves. It measures how quickly electrical signals are able to move through your peripheral nerves, which are located along your spinal cord and outside of your brain. When nerves are healthy, signals are strong and fast. When nerves are unhealthy, signals are weak and slow.
- Electromyography Testing. EMG, also known as Electromyography, is a diagnostic test used as a way to analyze muscle health and their corresponding nerve cells. EMG can help determine if you have muscle dysfunction, nerve dysfunction, or other issues regarding the signal transmission between your muscles and nerves.
- Ultrasound Imaging. This tool uses sonic waves to see inside painful areas of the patient’s body. It allows your physical therapist to analyze movement in certain joints, muscles, ligaments, and nerves in the affected area, in order to figure out the source of the pain.

Diagnostic testing is essential in making sure that your body is performing in the optimum ways that it is supposed to, and in finding the cause of certain problems so they can be treated accordingly.
If any health risks are determined during a diagnostic test, one of our highly-trained and dedicated physical therapists will perform further evaluations to determine what the best course of treatment will be for you. From there, an individualized treatment plan will be designed based on the risk that was detected, as well as your personal needs, as determined by your evaluation.
These tests can help bring awareness to any risks you may have, or bring peace of mind that your body is functioning how it should. Contact Courcier Clinic Physical Therapy today to learn more about how our diagnostic tests can benefit you and help you stay on top of your health!
